Team Mega Mix

"What happens when you mix an arty collective of DJs/bloggers/fashion designers/Fun magazine publishers called Real Gold, an ace DJ duo called Team Mega Mix and a beaten-up-but-lovable east London pub? One cool-as party called The International Amalgamation Of Champions that's what, and as it hits party number seven the event is, well, almost living up to its impossibly perfect title.

Mixing and mashing it up in the way you'd expect any young urban hipsters to do, the line-up's overflowing with just the right amount of pop, crunk, electro, rave, fast rap, soft rock and hip hop to keep this party rockin' with DJs Team Mega Mix, Cherish & Sam (Ipso Facto), Skill Wizard (yep, they actually dress like wizards) plus Queen Of Swords, Weird Love and Thee Vicars playing live.

But how do they filter out the chaff? London's awash with your-sound-is-so-now DJs and live acts. The Abbot from Real Gold sets the record straight: 'We're bored of booking DJs who play mindless party music. Instead we book people with weighty record collections rather than tons of MP3 blog bookmarks. If you're good, no matter the genre, we'll book you.'

Having previously made their name throwing illicit raves attracting piles of in-the-know cool kids, perhaps the tag of 'party saviours' would be more fitting for these guys? 'Real Gold only did one-off events 'cos we wanted to shy away from being promoters,' laughs The Abbot. 'TIAOC is much more fun and has much more integrity. Team Mega Mix is cool and we get to spotlight music that we whole-heartedly believe in. We love it!' We're sold. See you there."

See you Friday.

Love,

Young Urban Hipsters
