To mark the end of Team Mega Mix, we are offering a free download of RG00004A, the duo's 'Real G's' mixtape from March 2007. You can download it here.

--------

Team Mega Mix was started by Ted Lovett and Ted Pearce in 2004. The pair met at a party in Camberwell and started their DJ career soon after. At the time, to be a hip DJ you almost had to be an 'anti-DJ'; no mixing, no consistency, no requests, no profile. Team Mega Mix accidentally rebelled against this by mixing records, wearing uniformed t-shirts, preferring New Cross to Shoreditch and playing a LOT of 80s Soul.

The duo have achieved lots in their existence, from Tate Britain asking them to select a soundtrack celebrating 25 years of the Turner Prize, to playing The Barbican for their 'Do Something Different' weekend. Their 'Real G's' mixtape, which was our 4th release, really highlighted their incredibly deep understanding of Pop, Disco, Soul, Hip Hop and Garage. As well as the mixtape they have, of course, been a regular name on Real Gold nights Rich History, Suedeheads and The International Amalgamation of Champions, a club they co-curated with us.

Our favourite thing about Team Mega Mix was always how blindingly obvious it was how much they enjoyed DJing. Although they've played at a sold-out Ministry of Sound, if they liked the vibe of your club night they would quite happily be paid in beer. We're also pretty sure that they could somehow mix any two records in the world together. Effortlessly. And make you feel like an idiot for doubting them.

Team Mega Mix always lacked the usual straight-faced arrogance found in most DJs with their seemingly goofy approach. Instead, they relied on solid-as-stone DJ sets and being nice. This, to us, made Ted and Ted our favourite DJs. Please come to The Old Blue Last, where they held their infamous 1-800 Mega Mix night, on Saturday January 16th for one big final send off with Team Mega Mix playing a 2 hour set. We're going to miss them a lot.

Cough / Cool tonight

cough-cool-march-20th.jpg

Cough / Cool is a club presented by Real Gold.

Initially, Cough / Cool was a night started as a statement against London's disgusting need for ironic, big-name, moronic music for it's evenings.

The first edition of Cough / Cool was weekly at Pier One on Kingsland High Street, July 2007. We asked for people to trust us that every week we would supply a secret guest with a great taste in music. The venue shut down after our first four.

The second edition of Cough / Cool was at Cordy House on Curtain Road, March 2008. Our intention now was for the night to be a monthly gathering. The venue was shut down after our first one.

From March 20th 2009, Cough / Cool will now be monthly at The Old Blue Last.

Third time lucky?
